The Ties

The plastic ties in the blocks (which are recessed slightly to prevent thermal bridging) are a three-fold unit.

  • Firstly, they provide the “tie” member of the forms… that is; they hold the two panels of EPS the correct distance apart while concrete is being poured.
  • Secondly, they allow for proper placement of reinforcing bar by way of three slotted pockets in each tie into which the rebar is snapped.
  • Thirdly, the “T” shaped portion at each end of the member to which inside and outside finishes is attached.

Thus, the Superform wall system accomplishes forming, framing and insulating in one step, providing a finished wall far superior to any other framing method.

The Standard Tie

The ties are made of polypropylene, colored red, and they act as the structural part of the wall in resisting the hydrostatic forces of the wet concrete, as well as the carrying member for reinforcing bar, and lastly the strapping to which inside and outside finishes are attached.
